Ed Gein in my opinion is one of the most infamous murderers and body snatchers. His case influenced the creation of several fictional killers like Leatherface of the movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill of the novel The Silence of the Lambs. There are many more, but those are just some examples. Ed Gein also influenced the creation of Bloody Face from American Horror Story: Asylum. Bloody Face just screeeams Ed Gein. They have many things in common but two of them are how they would skin their victims and make trophies out of them, and they both also had mommy issues. The two photos you see on top is an actual human skin mask Ed Gein made. You can obviously see the similarities of the real mask, and Bloody Faces mask which you see located on the bottom. Ed Gein was obsessively devoted to his mother, so when she passed away in 1945 that was when he went off the rails and started his cemetery prowling. Ed would dig up females, cut them up, and keep them as trophies.

Searching Ed Geins house, authorities found:

  • Four noses

  • Whole human bones and fragments

  • Nine masks of human skin

  • Bowls made from human skulls

  • Ten female heads with the tops sawed off

  • Human skin covering several chair seats

  • Mary Hogan’s head in a paper bag

  • Bernice Worden’s head in a burlap sack

  • Nine vulvas in a shoe box

  • Skulls on his bedposts

  • Organs in the refrigerator

  • A pair of lips on a draw string for a windowshade

  • A belt made from human female nipples

  • A lampshade made from the skin from a human face

In 1954, Ed Gein turned from grave robbing to murder, a task he was less meticulous about. Police implicated him in the murders of two women in 1957. During the investigations, police learned that he had practiced necrophilia and experimented with human taxidermy. Gein was ultimately found guilty of murder by reason of insanity. He was confined in various criminal psychiatric institutions, including the Central State Hospital in Wisconsin and the Mendota Mental Health Institute, where he died of respiratory failure on July 26, 1984, at age 77.

I literally was just talking about this in the car!
